This is an excellent product at a fair price. Easy to install with the help of the video and previous reviews. I'm actually glad that Garmin stopped servicing this model as it would have been more expensive and more of a hassle to send it to them. When I later discovered this kit I was thrilled. Simple do-it-yourself project!

The video is a great help overall, but I had a problem trying to release the spring cover that secures the receiver. The video says the spring cover is black plastic, but shows no picture of it. The only clearly black thing at the hinge is a black plastic wrap around electrical connections to the yellow ribbon connector. Pressing that black plastic bundle only moves the bundle. I discovered two slots in the GREY hinge/spring cover. Find a plastic tab in one of those slots and push it toward the center of the Garmin to release the spring. Previous advice on preventing the spring from shooting out is good advice.

Video was excellent guide for installing the battery. Interior connections are delicate and require steady hand and fine motor skills. Shame on Garmin for no longer servicing this product, but perhaps I have save considerable money and time.

Great video; need larger phillips screwdriver

The video was dead on! Thanks!!!
The only issue I had was trying to remove the circuit board with the small phillips screwdriver included with the kit. It is one size too small for the job; it also doesn't help that Garmin must have tightened the screws down with a torque wrench! After almost rounding out the heads I wound up having to use a slightly larger phillips with a bigger handle I had from a jeweler's screwdriver kit.
Another thing - when you are using the screwdriver to pull back the spring clip, make sure your other hand is covering the end as you ease the receiver away from the unit - the spring and the little black thing will shoot across the room if you don't!
